Over 6 million Europeans, out of which more than a quarter of people are over the age of 85 and 10% are over the age of 65, have been affected by Alzheimer's Dementia (AD). Given the steady aging of European societies, cognitive decline and dementia have grown into a crucial health problem with a great socioeconomic effect on patients, their caregivers and families, society, and national health care systems.
