Thomas Carlyle (1795-1881) was one of the most influential authors of the nineteenth century. His introduction of German literature and philosophy into Victorian society profoundly influenced later philosophical ideas. Volume 13 of this 1896 edition of his works contains the second volume of The Life of Frederick the Great.
